The Merchant Warehouse

Retro Cafe and Wine Bar

The Merchant Warehouse Retro Cafe and Wine Bar, is located at 16 Water Street in historic Woody Point. Come see for yourself!  See Woody Point in a fun, unique, and memorable way at the Merchant Warehouse. The Merchant has become a SOCIAL ATTRACTION here in Gros Morne National Park.  We offer lots of LIVE ENTERTAINMENT throughout the week.  We combine culture, nature, sightseeing, and pub & grub dining in this awesome historic property.

We spent 6 years restoring Stan’s great-grandfather’s old warehouse.  It sits 100% over the water, featuring unobstructed views of the beautiful Bonne Bay. We host the largest outdoor patio on the waterfront of Woody Point.  The Merchant Warehouse is an ideal location for you to relax and enjoy local talent, local beer & local food.  You can do all of this with a spectacular backdrop of the majestic Bonne Bay water at night and a stylish by-the-bay ambience by day.

If you are a TRAVELER looking for much more than just a bed to sleep in – If you are Looking to Connect with the LOCAL PEOPLE and their CULTURE – This is the Place for You!

Our Pub & Grub is to die for – check out our Fish N’ Chips or Double Smashed Burger!  Our Retro Café has become a “PHOTO SHOOT’ kind of spot.  People LOVE IT!

History

Built for George C. Butt, Merchant, replacing the original fish warehouse destroyed by the 1922 waterfront fire – the building operated for many years as a storage facility for the family retail business and was recently restored and opened as a retro café, wine bar, and banquet/performance centre – The warehouse remains a family business, now 4th generation owned.
